Week of action against Selfridges in Manchester
26 February 2005

The week of action kicked off to a great start with a loud and positive demo on the Sunday. The police were called immediately due to the use of a loudhailer bit soon went on their way. Sunday was notably quieter than the Saturday but the message still got across to hundreds of people that day.

The demo was back louder and busier on the following Saturday. A stall table was set up, encouraging people to contact Selfridges, and to think about other animal cruelty issues such as the leather industry. The demo was well attended and the presence was definitely felt by Selfridges - the only bit of power that they can hold onto is getting the protesters to move 2inches away from the windows as it belongs to Selfridges and to move any placards off the windows. This really is a desperate stand that they are trying to make. The demo continued until all the leaflets had been handed out - well over 1500!!

If you would like to get involved in the Selfridges campaign, please get in touch with us: there's demo happening pretty much every Saturday, so come along and get involved in the campaign to stop Selfridges selling real animal fur.
